Presidential Meanders by William Cole

This is my first opportunity to thank the membership for electing me as president of our society.  I will do my best to carry out the responsibilities of this position.

I became a member in 2004 and I have watched the presidents come and go.  A list of the past presidents can be seen on the society’s website under “About OSLS”.  I watched the society from a distance at first, and then started looking for ways to become more active.  Now I am asking you to look for ways to become more active.  This can be as easy as suggesting a topic for a district meeting, attending a district meeting, or suggesting a topic or speaker for our convention.

I also want to thank the society for approving the acceptance of the National Society of Professional Surveyors 100% Affiliate Program and the increase in our dues.  Wade Bennett, past president, Burk Cornelius, Executive Director, the Board of Directors and Review Committee put in a lot of hours on this issue.  This change will take place when we renew our membership in January of 2015.
